Job Overview:
The Communication Officer NOB position at UNICEF involves developing and implementing advocacy and communication strategies to achieve specific outcomes. The role requires the production of communication materials that align with the country communication strategy and support regional and global campaigns. The officer will also manage media relations, ensuring effective communication with journalists and media outlets to promote UNICEF's work. Regular monitoring and evaluation of communication efforts are essential to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement. The position also involves maintaining a contact list of key individuals and organizations that can assist in achieving advocacy objectives and participating in special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing advocacy and communication strategies and plans to achieve SMART outcomes.
  • Produce communication products and materials in a timely manner to support the country communication strategy and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Provide professional assistance in developing and maintaining relationships with journalists and media outlets across various platforms.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the impact of communication efforts and prepare reports accordingly.
  • Maintain and develop a contact list of individuals and organizations that can support advocacy and communication objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance communication strategies and outreach efforts.
  • Participate in special events and activities that promote UNICEF's goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in advocacy, communication, or campaigning at a national, regional, or global level.
  • Familiarity with emergency situations and the ability to communicate effectively in such contexts.
  • Strong skills in media relations, strategic communication, and advocacy planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively communicate and advocate for children's rights and needs.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in advocacy, communication, or campaigning. Experience in emergency situations or fragile contexts is highly desirable, as it equips the candidate with the skills needed to navigate complex environments and effectively communicate UNICEF's mission and objectives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
