Job Overview:
The UX Programmer/Developer Intern will be an integral part of the Communications Unit at the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBP). This role focuses on enhancing user experience across WFP’s digital communication platforms. The intern will collaborate closely with the Communications Regional Officer and the team to implement front-end solutions that optimize user engagement. The position requires a proactive approach to coding and developing user-centered designs, ensuring that all digital tools align with WFP’s communication objectives. The intern will also be involved in various projects that support the organization's mission of promoting effective humanitarian assistance and advocacy through digital channels. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with design tools such as Figma, WordPress, and Sketch. A foundational knowledge of JavaScript or HTML/CSS is essential. The ability to manage and develop website/landing page UX projects focused on communication tools, interpret user data, and resolve usability issues effectively is required. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet deadlines. A keen interest in applying UX/UI trends to enhance communication platforms is important, along with strong collaborative skills to work closely with the Communications Unit and contribute to team objectives. Effective written and verbal communication skills are crucial, especially in conveying UX or JavaScript recommendations to support communication goals.
Educational Background:
Candidates should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university, focusing on UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Web Development, Software Engineering, Communication Design, or related fields. Applicants must have attended classes in the last 12 months and completed at least two years of undergraduate studies. Recent graduates (up to 6 months) are also eligible to apply, providing a pathway for those who have recently completed their studies to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
Experience:
The position is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or have recently graduated. Therefore, while specific prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should have a foundational understanding of UX/UI principles and web development practices.
