Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Coordination Officer (Operations) plays a crucial role in the operational security framework of the IAEA. Reporting directly to the Central Security Coordinator (CSC), this position is responsible for leading all operational security responsibilities at both headquarters and IAEA offices globally. The officer supports the CSC in implementing the latest operational practices related to travel security, incident and emergency response, and crisis management. This includes developing and executing the Agency's crisis management plan and supervising the Associate Security Coordination Officer (Field Travel). The role requires collaboration with various internal departments and external partners to ensure compliance with the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) and to enhance the safety and security of the Agency's operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Coordination Officer (Operations) is tasked with leading the implementation of headquarters and travel security operations, including minimum operating security standards (MOSS), crisis management, emergency response, and security investigations. Key responsibilities include maintaining and reviewing local guidelines and procedures, overseeing incident reporting and assessment capabilities, and ensuring timely security advisories to senior management. The officer must respond to any threats or failings that may expose the Director General to risk, coordinate security arrangements for special events, and provide expert guidance to junior staff. The role also involves acting on behalf of the Central Security Coordinator in their absence and making recommendations for appropriate responses to security challenges.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a United Nations Security Certification Programme (SCP) at the Fully Competent level or above, which is considered a strong asset. A Bachelor's Degree in a security-related field such as political science, business administration, or international relations is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in operational security or security management, with a minimum of three years within the UN Security Management System. Previous command or supervisory experience in military or law enforcement is also advantageous. The ability to promote knowledge management initiatives and experience working in multicultural teams are essential qualifications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university in a security-related discipline. This could encompass fields such as political science, business administration, international relations, or an equivalent degree from a military or police institution in a Member State. The educational qualifications should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of security management within an international context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in operational security and/or security management. This experience must include at least three years of direct involvement with the UN Security Management System, ideally in a field setting. Candidates with prior experience in a command or supervisory role within military or law enforcement contexts will be viewed favorably, as this background is crucial for the effective management of security operations and personnel.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role. Proficiency in multiple languages can facilitate communication and collaboration within the diverse international environment of the IAEA.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $70,212, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additionally, a variable post adjustment currently amounts to US $28,085, along with dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation, and repatriation expenses. Employees are entitled to six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, and are covered by a pension plan and health insurance.
