Job Overview: The WASHCoordinator is a key member of the Country Coordination team in Aden, reporting to the Deputy CountryDirector. This role involves significant travel (40-50%) to various operational bases and field locations. The WASH Coordinator serves as the lead technical advisor for SI's WASH programs, contributing to the development of strategies that respond to emergency and post-emergency trends. The position requires collaboration with the Yemen WASH Cluster and government authorities, ensuring that WASH activities align with the needs of local populations. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining the quality of technical approaches and guiding project managers in the operational monitoring of WASH programs. Additionally, the role includes developing the technical skills of the team through training and capacity-building initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to Project Managers, especially during the launch of new projects.
Contribute significantly to project proposal writing and donor reporting.
Collaborate with the Yemen WASH Cluster and the Ministry of Water and Environment to sustain SI's profile and engagement.
Ensure the quality and appropriateness of WASH activities based on assessments and local needs.
Guide and coach WASH Program and Project Managers in Project Cycle Management (PCM).
Develop and tailor training modules based on identified needs and gaps.
Maintain records and data for capitalization and improvement of WASH methods.
Enhance the capacity of national staff to fulfill SI's localization commitment.
Navigate the funding environment to secure resources for ongoing and new projects.
3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.

Experience: The position requires 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years specifically in similar roles. This experience is crucial for understanding the challenges and dynamics of working in humanitarian contexts, particularly in WASH-related projects.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage. This bilingual capability will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of program implementation.
Additional Notes: The position is a short-term contract with a duration of one year, starting from September 1st. The role is based in Aden, Yemen, and involves significant travel to field locations. The salary starts at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 700 is provided, along with accommodation and travel expenses covered by SI. The organization offers a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Aden include access to a guest house with good amenities, although social life is limited due to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints. The security situation in Aden is unstable, and staff movements are highly regulated, with a curfew at 10:00 PM.
