This role is particularly focused on monitoring and analyzing demographic trends and their implications for sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the UN's mission of addressing pressing social issues such as ageing, migration, and youth engagement. The internship is full-time, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, and is expected to last between three to six months. Interns will work closely under the supervision of experienced staff members, providing them with valuable insights into the workings of the UN and the specific challenges faced in social development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will undertake a range of responsibilities that may include conducting literature reviews and compiling data on demographic changes and their implications for sustainable development. They will assist in organizing meetings, ensuring all necessary preparations are made, and may be tasked with reviewing working papers for clarity and accuracy. Additionally, interns will develop audio-visual materials, such as PowerPoint presentations, to effectively communicate policy messages to diverse audiences. Data analysis using Excel and other statistical tools will also be a key component of the role. Interns will report directly to the Chief of the Section and may be assigned other duties as needed, providing a comprehensive experience in the field of social development.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific educational requirements to be eligible for the internship. They should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not mandatory, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is required. Additionally, the ability to draft news articles or social media posts is desirable, as is experience in designing surveys and polls.

The educational background required for this internship includes either a graduate degree or being in the final year of an undergraduate program.
