Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst in Midwifery will provide technical expertise for the development and implementation of strategies aimed at strengthening maternal health, specifically in midwifery care. This includes obstetric practice, contraceptive technology, and community-based services such as community distribution, mobile clinics, and safe spaces for girls. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including program specialists and operational teams, to enhance maternal health strategies and activities. The analyst will also be responsible for resource mobilization and ensuring efficient management of resources allocated to maternal health programs. The position demands a commitment to ethical standards and the ability to inspire and produce sustainable results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst will be responsible for the development and operationalization of strategies related to maternal health and midwifery care. Key duties include:
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of annual work plans and projects related to obstetric practice and community-based strategies.
  • Analyzing socio-demographic, health, political, and economic factors relevant to maternal health and identifying opportunities for program interventions.
  • Reviewing funding requests and ensuring compliance with approved budgets while monitoring expenditures.
  • Ensuring the efficient use of resources and safeguarding assets allocated to maternal health programs.
  • Reporting on implementation results, analyzing execution reports, and proposing corrective measures for improved efficiency.
  • Contributing to donor reporting and developing mechanisms for tracking results and evaluating program components.
  • Documenting best practices and strengthening the capacities of implementing partners through training and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting resource mobilization efforts by analyzing potential donors and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders, including UNFPA management, program colleagues, and external partners, to ensure effective program implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in reproductive health or a related field. They should have at least two years of specific work experience in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, training providers in reproductive health, or monitoring maternal health activities. Experience in mentoring students in midwifery training programs and working with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications, is required. Previous experience within the UN system is a plus.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in reproductive health or a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in health systems, maternal health, and program management, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in areas such as adolescent sexual and reproductive health, training in reproductive health, or monitoring maternal health activities. Candidates should have experience in mentoring and training midwifery students and working in international organizations or UN agencies, which will enhance their understanding of global health initiatives and practices.

Languages:
Fluency in French (both oral and written) is mandatory, along with a good command of English (oral and written). Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders and partners.
