Job Overview:
The Communication and Advocacy Coordinator position at NRC in Niger is designed to enhance the visibility of NRC's work and implement the national communication strategy in alignment with the organization's overall objectives. The role involves supporting programmatic advocacy activities in coordination with the Advocacy Manager and program teams. The ideal candidate is a dedicated communication professional with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communication, media, or a related field, and at least two years of experience in developing communication tools. The position requires expertise in photography, video production, and visual materials, as well as proficiency in social media platforms. Strong writing skills and excellent oral and written communication in French are essential, while knowledge of English is considered an asset. The coordinator will be responsible for producing high-quality communication materials for both internal and external audiences, ensuring adherence to NRC's visibility guidelines and donor requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication and Advocacy Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Ensuring the production of high-quality communication and media materials for internal and external audiences in accordance with NRC's visibility guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Providing guidance and advice on general communication activities, including social media publications for programs and the mission.
  • Developing and implementing a national communication strategy that aligns with NRC's overall communication strategy and the national office's advocacy and communication objectives.
  • Organizing training sessions and enhancing the technical capacities of program staff to produce relevant and high-quality communication materials.
  • Supporting the implementation of programmatic advocacy activities in collaboration with the Advocacy Manager and program teams.
  • Participating in strategic advocacy meetings and ensuring follow-up and reporting on discussions.
  • Assisting in the development of advocacy initiatives, including drafting notes and key messages as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with NRC policies, guidelines, and manuals regarding all printed and online publications.
  • Coordinating the development and publication of communication and media products such as press releases, photos, videos, and social media messages to highlight NRC's work. 1
  • Developing capitalization notes and lessons learned that showcase NRC's fieldwork. 1
  • Building and maintaining a media network with journalists and conducting regular media monitoring for relevant updates. 1
  • Implementing NRC's communication strategy and programs in accordance with existing objectives, targets, budgets, means, and mobilized resources. 1
  • Ensuring the production and dissemination of the internal newsletter and communication products. 1
  • Contributing to the collection and documentation of evidence and testimonials that can inform advocacy messages. 1
  • Supporting the Advocacy Manager in preparing advocacy notes, briefings, and talking points for authorities, donors, and partners. 1
  • Contributing to the preparation of materials and messaging for advocacy initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communication, media, or a related field.
  • At least two years of professional experience in developing communication tools.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong oral and written communication abilities in French; proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Knowledge and experience in media or communication within a humanitarian context is a plus.
  • Experience in photography, video production, and visual materials is essential.
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms (Facebook, X, etc.) is required.
  • Previous experience in advocacy is considered an asset. 1
  • Autonomy, proactivity, and a strong sense of organization and planning are crucial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communication, media, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the position.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of professional experience in communication, particularly in developing communication tools.
