Job Overview:
The Regional Humanitarian Project Coordinator and SRH in Emergencies Specialist will oversee the DFAT-funded Regional Prepositioning Initiative Phase III (2021-2026), which aims to improve access to quality integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services for women, girls, and at-risk groups in disaster-prone countries across Asia and the Pacific. This role involves managing technical and programmatic support to 11 UNFPA Country Offices, ensuring effective implementation of annual workplans, and preparing progress updates and reports for donors. The position also entails budget monitoring, facilitating information sharing, and supporting strategic capacity building and advocacy activities. The specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to essential SRH and GBV services during crises.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Regional Humanitarian Project Coordinator and SRH in Emergencies Specialist include:
  • Programme management, coordination, and implementation of the Regional Prepositioning Initiative, including developing and overseeing workplans, monitoring programmatic aspects, and ensuring alignment with results frameworks.
  • Providing technical and operational guidance to country offices on SRHiE programming, leading capacity-building initiatives, and developing technical guidance documents.
  • Documenting and sharing good practices and lessons learned on preparedness and SRHiE programming to inform global and regional policies.
  • Maintaining donor relations and identifying opportunities for new partnerships and projects.
  • Supporting country offices in strengthening advocacy for SRH and GBV in emergencies, particularly regarding disability inclusion and accountability to affected populations.
  • Upholding compliance with UNFPA corporate and donor guidelines and managing audit processes as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, gender studies, humanitarian studies, international development, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian programming, particularly in SRH in Emergencies (SRHiE). Proven expertise in MISP training, capacity building, and SRH-GBV integration in humanitarian contexts is essential. Experience in managing large-scale projects, donor relations, and results-based management is required, along with the ability to develop technical guidance and knowledge products. Strong organizational and coordination skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in knowledge management and resource mobilization are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in fields such as public health, medicine, gender studies, humanitarian studies, international development, or a related area. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly in emergency contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 7 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian programming, with a specific focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE). Familiarity with emergency supply chain management and SRHiE procurement processes, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNFPA and in the context of international humanitarian work. Additionally, a working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable, as it can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
