Job Overview: The Security Officer position within the OECD's Security Unit (EXD/CSI/SEC) is critical for ensuring the safety of the organization's personnel and property. The role involves protecting VIPs and managing security arrangements for specific events. Candidates must be available for 8- or 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. A key requirement is the ability to carry a firearm professionally, with fitness and suitability being essential for continued employment. The successful candidate will report to the Heads of the Security Unit and will be involved in various security operations, including site command center management and emergency response procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Security Officer will oversee and coordinate operational security staff, manage technical systems at the Site Command Centre, handle security and fire alarms, and analyze requests affecting operational security. Responsibilities include supervising subcontracted fire safety officers, triggering crisis procedures during serious incidents, and performing administrative tasks such as monitoring statistics and drafting reports. Officers will conduct patrols, manage screening areas, and respond to security issues, including alarms and emergencies. They will ensure the safety of high-level visitors and manage emergency procedures for various incidents, whether real or during exercises.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a post-secondary qualification (university degree or advanced vocational diploma) and a Category 'B' driving license. They should have at least eight years of experience in security, including carrying a service weapon in a professional setting. Experience in managing high-stress situations, tactical marksmanship training, and emergency management is essential. Proficiency in IT tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is also required. Candidates must meet all conditions for authorization to carry a service weapon, including medical and psychological fitness and successful completion of physical tests.
Educational Background: A post-secondary qualification is required, which can be a university degree, advanced vocational diploma, or equivalent. This educational background should provide the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to the security field.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of eight years of experience in security roles, whether in the private or public sector, such as national or local police. This experience should include carrying a service weapon and managing emergencies effectively, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure.
Languages: Operational command of the French language is essential due to the nature of the work in a French-speaking environment. While French and English are the official languages of the OECD, candidates must be proficient in French, and knowledge of English will be assessed. Successful candidates will be expected to acquire a good working knowledge of English if not already proficient.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is flexible, as multiple positions will be filled based on the Directorate's needs. Candidates will be required to complete specific training courses, including the SSIAP 1 course in fire safety and situational shooting training within designated timeframes. The monthly salary starts at 4,422 EUR, with additional allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax. The selection process may include video-recorded interviews, job-based assessments, and panel interviews.
