The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), based in Beijing, China, is part of ESCAP and focuses on enhancing technical cooperation among member states through information exchange, knowledge sharing, and promoting research and development in sustainable agricultural mechanization and technology, aligning with internationally agreed development goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Overview:

The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 37.5 hours. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned. The internship has a minimum duration of two months, with the possibility of extension up to six months, depending on the intern's performance and the needs of the organization. Interns will be involved in various administrative tasks and will have the opportunity to contribute to significant projects that support the mission of ESCAP.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that may include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support to the division, assisting in the preparation of official documents, contributing to social media outreach efforts, aiding in partnership building initiatives, and providing logistical support for meetings and conferences. The specific duties assigned will depend on the intern's background, skills, and the duration of the internship. Interns are expected to engage actively in their assigned tasks and contribute to the overall objectives of the ESCAP and CSAM.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to the principles of the UN Charter.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes either enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This indicates that candidates should have a solid academic foundation, preferably in fields related to international relations, public administration, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines that align with the mission of ESCAP.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not a strict requirement for this internship, any relevant experience in administrative roles, research, or involvement in international organizations will be considered an asset. Interns are expected to be proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn in a dynamic work environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
