Job Overview: The Software Engineer position at UNOPS focuses on the development, testing, and maintenance of the UNWB platform, an e-commerce solution tailored for the humanitarian and development sector. The role involves working closely with the UNWB Application Architect and the IT team, which is based in Bangkok. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing high-quality, secure, scalable, and maintainable code to enhance the platform. This includes implementing new functionalities, maintaining existing code, and ensuring optimal performance and usability. The Software Engineer will also engage in testing activities, including writing unit tests and troubleshooting issues, thereby contributing to the overall operational tasks of running the application in production.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the development of the UNWB platform: Implement new functionalities, maintain and enhance existing code, and ensure code aligns with prescribed architecture and technical designs. Collaborate with team members to achieve optimal results.
Participate in testing of the UNWB platform: Write unit tests and automated tests, perform technical testing of functionalities, and assist in troubleshooting anomalies.
Participate in support and maintenance: Respond to user issues, develop software patches and enhancements, and communicate with stakeholders to address their questions and requests. The impact of these responsibilities includes adding new functionalities to the platform, assisting in operational tasks, and sharing knowledge within the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma as a minimum requirement. A relevant university degree (Bachelor's or Master's) is advantageous and may substitute for some required years of experience. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a full-stack web developer, backend developer, frontend developer, or a combination of these roles is required. If the candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience is necessary, and only 1 year is required for a Master's degree. Proficiency in at least one of the following technologies is essential: .NET, C#, and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server). Familiarity with web technologies such as JS/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one modern front-end framework like Svelte or React is also required.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a secondary school diploma. However, candidates with a relevant university degree, either a Bachelor's or a Master's, will be viewed favorably. Such degrees may also substitute for some of the required years of professional experience, thereby enhancing the candidate's eligibility for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as full-stack web development, backend development, or frontend development.
