Job Overview: The Logistics Assistant plays a crucial role in the day-to-day implementation of the logistics function within NRC. This position requires adherence to NRC policies and guidelines while assisting in the logistics portfolio's implementation according to the Plan of Action. The Logistics Assistant will provide administrative support, prepare status reports, maintain logistic records, and contribute to the improvement of logistics functions. The role also involves ensuring compliance with Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards, making it essential for the candidate to be proactive and detail-oriented in their approach to logistics management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Assistant will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Asset Management: Maintaining the asset register for the NRC Palestine Gaza Area, coordinating with logistics and IT teams for asset delivery, and managing records of assets.
Fleet Management: Overseeing the fleet operations, assisting with movement planning, and ensuring proper documentation for vehicle use.
Procurement: Conducting procurement processes in line with NRC policies, sourcing bids, issuing purchase orders, and monitoring contract statuses.
Warehousing: Ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of storage spaces, supervising the receipt and distribution of materials, and maintaining accurate records of stock movements.
General Support: Adhering to NRC policies, assisting with logistic administration, and performing other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess basic experience in a humanitarian or recovery context, with previous experience in complex and volatile environments being advantageous. A good command of English, both written and verbal, is essential, along with fluency in Arabic. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of logistics functions within an INGO context and possess a valid driver's license. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure are also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage logistics operations and support the organization's mission.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a basic level of experience working as a function officer in a humanitarian or recovery context. Previous experience in logistics roles, particularly in complex and volatile settings, is highly desirable. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to manage logistics functions effectively and efficiently.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, both written and verbal, as it is essential for communication within the local context. Proficiency in English is also required, as it is necessary for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Gaza and is classified as Grade (03) Step (01). The contract duration is for 3 months, and the salary and benefits are aligned with the Gaza Duty Station.
