The mission operates in the fields of food security and livelihoods, water, hygiene, sanitation, and multi-sector cash assistance. SI's programs include emergency response through rapid response mechanisms and second-line programs, as well as recovery and development activities in stabilized areas. The operational area in North Kivu is part of SI's growth strategy, with teams implementing various projects while conducting multi-sector assessments to secure additional funding and continue supporting vulnerable populations. Currently, the base is funded by donors such as DDC, CDCS, ECHO, and FCDO, and is implementing a multi-sector emergency assistance project for internally displaced persons and returnees from the M23 crisis in the territories of Rutshuru and Lubero.
Job Overview: The Logisticien is responsible for the implementation and supervision of all logistical activities at the assigned base. This role involves organizing logistical support for programs in compliance with Solidarités International procedures. The Logisticien assists the base manager or field coordinator in implementing security rules. The main challenges include security and access issues in a volatile context, logistical access problems, particularly in supply chains, and operationalizing the new operational area. The priorities for the first two to three months include ensuring cross-cutting approaches between program teams and logistics in planning and implementing supplies, actively participating in establishing the new operational area, launching logistical activities for new projects for the 2025 cycle (emergency, recovery, and development), and developing team-building initiatives to enhance cohesion and work atmosphere at the base and sub-base. The local context is particularly volatile, but security processes and dynamic context analysis are in place to mitigate risks.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logisticien's duties and responsibilities include:
Implementing and supervising all logistical activities at the base.
Organizing logistical support for programs in accordance with Solidarités International procedures.
Assisting the base manager or field coordinator in implementing security rules.
Ensuring cross-cutting approaches between program teams and logistics during planning and implementation of supplies.
Actively participating in the establishment of the new operational area.
Launching logistical activities for new projects for the 2025 cycle.
Developing team-building initiatives to enhance cohesion and work atmosphere.
Conducting regular assessments of logistical access and supply chain issues.

Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree at least at the BAC + 3 level in Logistics or an equivalent qualification. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics in humanitarian contexts and for effectively managing logistical operations.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of experience in logistics roles, particularly in humanitarian settings. Candidates should have experience working in emergency contexts, ideally in Africa, and should have previously held similar positions that involved managing logistics operations and teams. Experience in challenging security environments is also preferred, as it prepares candidates for the volatile conditions they may face in the field.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, while proficiency in English and Swahili is appreciated. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is crucial for coordinating with diverse teams and stakeholders in the humanitarian context.
Additional Notes: The position is a salaried role with a salary starting from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly per diem of USD 80
Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with USD 850 allocated by Solidarités International for these breaks. Additionally, expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering all medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, repatriation, and necessary vaccinations and malaria treatment. Living conditions in Goma are reported to be very good, with accommodations in a guest house featuring private rooms and bathrooms, access to quality food, and a vibrant social life with various activities available. However, it is important to note that expatriates may not always be based in Goma and could be deployed to areas like Rutshuru, where living conditions differ significantly due to security concerns and limited social activities. Regular trips back to Goma will remain possible.
