Job Overview:
The Intern position at EBRD is designed for Japanese Nationals and involves contributing to all phases of the project cycle. This includes project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The Intern will work under the guidance of the operation leader or senior project team members, taking on responsibilities such as conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and supporting effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The role is integral to the Energy Europe team, which focuses on investments in renewable energy and electricity projects across various regions, including the Baltic States and the Western Balkans. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and Execution: Collaborating with the project team on transactions, conducting research and analysis of market information and financial performance data, preparing and updating financial models, and assisting in the design and processing of technical cooperation assistance.
  • Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: Undertaking tasks related to project implementation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with project agreements, preparing draft monitoring reports, and assisting with the effective implementation of technical cooperation assignments. The Intern's responsibilities will evolve, allowing for increased complexity and scope based on experience and expertise gained during the internship.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a relevant degree from a leading university and demonstrate strong quantitative and numerical skills. The ability to interpret financial information and design basic financial models is essential. Candidates should also have credit analysis skills, understanding international accounting principles, and be proficient in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet software. Strong teamwork skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree from a recognized university is mandatory for this position. The degree should ideally be in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field that provides the necessary analytical and quantitative skills required for the role.

Experience:
While prior experience in the financial industry is preferable, it is not strictly required. Relevant experience from investment or commercial banks, private equity firms, asset management firms, or auditing/financial consulting firms operating to international standards is advantageous. Exposure to specific industries or countries related to the EBRD's focus areas is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the EBRD. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions in which the EBRD operates, would be considered an asset but is not required.

This internship is a 12-month contract specifically available to Japanese Nationals.
