Job Overview: This position involves working as a National Consultant to update the report on mapping the gender component in data and legislation related to climate change. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing existing data and legislation, identifying gaps, and providing recommendations to enhance gender considerations in climate change policies. The role requires a deep understanding of both gender issues and climate change, as well as the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that gender perspectives are integrated into climate change initiatives, thereby promoting gender equality and sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analyze existing reports and data on gender and climate change in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Conduct interviews and consultations with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
Identify gaps in current legislation and data regarding gender and climate change.
Develop recommendations for integrating gender considerations into climate change policies and programs.
Prepare a comprehensive report detailing findings, analysis, and recommendations.
Present findings to UNDP and other stakeholders, facilitating discussions on the implications of the findings.
Ensure that all work is completed within the specified timeframe and adheres to UNDP's standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with other consultants and team members to ensure a cohesive approach to the project.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in gender studies, climate change, or related fields.
Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis.
Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Familiarity with UNDP's work and policies related to gender and climate change is an advantage.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Gender Studies, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be an asset, as would additional certifications in gender analysis or climate change policy.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gender analysis, climate change, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record of conducting research and producing high-quality reports is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the quality of the analysis.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is expected to last from March to May 2025, with a maximum of 12 consultancy days. The position is part-time and will require the consultant to be available for meetings and consultations as needed. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's rates for individual contractors, and all offers must be submitted directly through the UNDP supplier portal by the specified deadline.
