Job Overview:
The consultancy position involves co-facilitating the training implementation of four Training of Trainers (ToT) modules focused on Inclusive Insurance. The consultants will be responsible for delivering these modules in person, which include: Module 1 - Designing Inclusive Insurance Products, Module 2 - Boosting Partnerships and Distribution for Inclusive Insurance, Module 3 - Improving the Experience of Inclusive Insurance, and Module 4 - Providing Insurance Responsibly. Each consultant will deliver two modules, following the structure and guidelines provided by UNDP. The role requires close coordination with a national training institution and the UNDP’s partner training center in Uganda to ensure effective delivery and contextualization of the training materials. The consultants will also engage in evaluating the training modules and supporting the certification process for national inclusive insurance trainers, thereby enhancing the capacity of local practitioners in the insurance sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultants will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Engaging with the national training institution to facilitate coordination efforts and support the certification process for national inclusive insurance trainers.
  • Assisting the training institution and the National Project Officer (NPO) in contextualizing the training modules to ensure relevance to the local context.
  • Delivering two Training of Trainers (ToT) modules per consultant to national inclusive insurance trainers, ensuring that the practical components are effectively integrated into the training.
  • Conducting evaluations of the modules delivered and supporting the overall training evaluation process to assess the effectiveness and impact of the training.
  • Collaborating with UNDP and the training center to ensure adherence to the guidelines and training materials provided.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations for improving the training process and materials based on the evaluations conducted.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires specific qualifications, including:
  • Proven expertise in inclusive insurance and experience in delivering training programs, particularly in the context of insurance.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance sector, particularly in developing countries, and the challenges faced in promoting inclusive insurance solutions.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with national training institutions or similar organizations is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, training centers, and insurance practitioners.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a relevant educational background, which typically includes:
  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as finance, economics, insurance, or development studies.
  • Additional certifications or training in inclusive insurance or related areas will be considered an asset.
  • Continuous professional development in the field of insurance and training methodologies is encouraged.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically:
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the insurance sector, with a focus on inclusive insurance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training programs, particularly in a cross-cultural context.
  • Previous experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in the field of development and insurance is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of instruction and communication for this consultancy. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda would be considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and participants during training sessions.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is structured as an individual contractor position, with a total assignment period of 20 working days per consultant.
