Job Overview:
The Project Manager will oversee a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project funded by the European Union, located in Banz, Jiwaka Province, Papua New Guinea. This project aims to improve equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation services, particularly for vulnerable groups. The Project Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing project plans, ensuring sustainability, managing resources, and liaising with stakeholders. The role requires a strong focus on achieving project outcomes, including improved access to clean water and sanitation services, and promoting hygiene practices among the community. The Project Manager will work closely with various officials and partners, including UNICEF and the Department of National Planning and Monitoring, to ensure the successful delivery of project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: developing and updating implementation plans, managing project delivery and performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards, liaising with external suppliers, managing budgets and financial reporting, preparing project documentation, and ensuring stakeholder engagement. The role also involves monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions as necessary. The Project Manager will lead contract management duties, oversee project audits, and ensure that all project team members are aligned with project goals. Additionally, the Project Manager will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture, ensuring safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security for all personnel, and promoting diversity and inclusion within the team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree in a relevant discipline such as Project Management, Architecture, or Civil Engineering. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree combined with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted. A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing infrastructure projects, particularly in WASH services, is required. Experience with the UN or EU, contract management, and risk management is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience working in multicultural teams and in conflict or post-conflict areas.

Educational Background:
An Advanced University Degree in Project Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and additional relevant work experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for managing complex infrastructure projects and understanding the technical aspects of WASH services.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in managing infrastructure projects, particularly in the design and technical supervision of WASH infrastructures. Experience working with the UN or EU is advantageous, as is experience in contract management and developing procurement strategies. Familiarity with risk management and working in conflict or post-conflict areas is also beneficial. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively with multicultural teams.

Languages:
Full working knowledge of English is essential for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of stakeholder engagement and communication within the diverse communities served by the project.
