Job Overview: The Sexual and Reproductive Health Analyst position at UNFPA Angola is a consultancy role aimed at providing technical assistance for the implementation and monitoring of activities under the 'Quality SRH services' component of the Country Programme. The consultant will work closely with national and local health partners to integrate sexual and reproductive health services with a focus on gender, aiming to enhance women's and girls' autonomy and reduce maternal mortality, particularly from hemorrhage. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities and civil society organizations, to ensure effective project execution and to contribute to the overarching goals of UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-202
The consultant will be responsible for developing protocols, conducting training, and establishing monitoring systems to track progress in maternal health and reproductive services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Sexual and Reproductive Health Analyst will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the implementation of a Norway-funded initiative aimed at reducing maternal deaths in five targeted provinces by developing a protocol for a pilot study on misoprostol use during childbirth.
Mapping service delivery points for Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) and training 100 health professionals annually in the targeted provinces.
Facilitating community mobilization and sensitization sessions on sexual and reproductive health, focusing on maternal health and family planning.
Establishing a real-time monitoring system for maternal health indicators and ensuring compliance with national standards.
Participating in programmatic meetings and providing support for monitoring the financial implementation of the project.
Collaborating with implementing partners to ensure adherence to work plans and timelines, and providing technical support to enhance project quality.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in health, education, population, demography, project management, or a related social science discipline. They should have at least two years of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, project management, or social sciences relevant to sexual and reproductive health. Practical experience in project design, monitoring, and evaluation is essential, along with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government and civil society organizations. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required, as well as proficiency in office software applications. Familiarity with UNFPA's policies and procedures is advantageous.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in health, education, population, demography, project management, or a related social science discipline is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health issues and for effectively managing projects aimed at improving health outcomes.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in fields related to public health, project management, or social sciences, particularly those relevant to sexual and reproductive health, gender, and population development. Candidates should have practical experience in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects, as well as experience working collaboratively with government entities, development partners, and civil society organizations on issues affecting adolescents and youth.
Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the successful implementation of project activities in Angola, where both languages are commonly used in professional settings.
