Job Overview: The Driver position is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to high-ranking UN officials, including the UNFPA Representative and Deputy Representative. Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services, which includes: driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA officials and visitors, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official personnel at the airport while managing visa and customs formalities as needed. The Driver must stay informed about traffic, road conditions, and security issues to ensure timely arrivals for meetings. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate vehicle logs, preparing vehicle maintenance plans, and ensuring the vehicle is in good running condition through timely repairs and regular maintenance. The Driver must keep track of all necessary documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and registration, and must follow regulations in case of accidents. Additional duties may involve translating for official personnel, assisting with office tasks such as filing and photocopying, and supporting the distribution of newsletters and publications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have a minimum of three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads, and defensive driving skills is essential. The Driver should also have skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance to ensure the vehicle remains in optimal condition.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of Secondary Level Education. This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the candidate possesses the basic knowledge and skills required for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience as a driver, particularly in an international context such as working with UN agencies, embassies, or similar organizations.
