Job Overview:
The Handy Man position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the United Nations Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role primarily involves logistical support, which includes transporting items for staff members, purchasing and distributing water, and assisting with promotional materials for public information events. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with various departments, ensuring that all required items are available and delivered on time. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency of the office and supporting the overall mission of the United Nations in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carry items for UNOAU, HOA, and OPESG-Sudan staff members to their respective offices as needed.
  • Purchase water from vendors and ensure timely distribution to different offices as requested.
  • Assist the Public Information office by transporting promotional materials to meeting venues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all items are handled with care.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to facilitate smooth operations within the office.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisors to support the office's functions.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess basic skills in logistics and support services. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory. The candidate should demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well in a team environment. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively interact with staff and vendors.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training or certifications in logistics or office management would be an advantage, although not mandatory.
