Job Overview:

The intern will engage in various communication tasks, including researching and drafting content for social media platforms, assisting in the creation of digital visual content, and contributing to the development of communication strategies for advocacy campaigns. The role also involves supporting the Gender, Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda by conducting research and analysis on regional trends, compiling data on the impact of conflict on women and girls, and participating in the planning and delivery of related events. The intern will work closely with the Public Information Officer and will be expected to contribute creatively to enhance UNOAU's digital communication efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include conducting research and drafting engaging content for UNOAU’s social media platforms, assisting in the creation of digital visual content such as graphics, GIFs, and videos, and contributing creative ideas to enhance digital communication strategies. The intern will support live coverage of events, assist in monitoring social media accounts, and provide support for internal communication efforts. Additionally, the intern will assist in research and analysis related to Gender and the Women, Peace and Security agenda, compile data on the impact of conflict on women and girls, and participate in planning and delivering events organized by UNOAU. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria, including being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or the final academic year of a first university degree program. The field of study should be closely related to the internship, such as Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, Gender Studies, or Peace and Security Studies. Proficiency in standard software applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with familiarity with social media platforms and digital content creation tools. A demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds are also essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus areas, ensuring that candidates possess relevant knowledge and skills.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants should have a field of study that closely aligns with the internship's focus.
