Job Overview:
The Communications Intern will be part of the Communications & Outreach Unit (COU) under the Project Management Office (PMO) of the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT). This internship is designed to provide practical experience in communications and outreach, focusing on multimedia content creation to promote the work of OICT. The intern will work closely with the COU Team Lead and will be expected to contribute to various projects by producing engaging content that highlights the initiatives and achievements of OICT. The position is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week, with a minimum duration of three months, extendable up to six months. The intern will have the flexibility to work either in-person or remotely, depending on their location, and must comply with UN information security regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the visibility of OICT's work. Key responsibilities include: creating short videos for OICT projects and initiatives for social media; assisting in the production of graphics and social media assets; providing script writing and editing support; editing video footage for final publication on OICT's social media platforms; optimizing graphics and video content for web and social media; creating graphics and web banners for ICT stories; assisting with other communications-related activities as needed; and proposing new ideas for improving media coverage. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the communications team and ensuring that OICT's messages reach a wider audience effectively.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: they must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or they must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Additionally, candidates should possess strong skills in multimedia content creation, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, Microsoft Clipchamp, iMovie, or other video editing and design tools. Familiarity with Office 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) is also required, along with knowledge of SharePoint Online and Drupal platforms.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong educational background relevant to communications, media, or a related field. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program. The educational qualifications should align with the requirements set by the United Nations Internship Programme, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement in relevant disciplines.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory for this internship, any relevant experience in communications, media production, or digital content creation will be considered an asset. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the fast-paced environment of the United Nations, showcasing their ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, another official UN language, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
