Job Overview: The Field Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of a project aimed at improving waste management in the Philippines, particularly focusing on plastic waste reduction and recycling. This position involves working closely with local government units (LGUs) and various stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery. The Field Coordinator will assist the Project Manager in overseeing project activities, engaging with local partners, and ensuring that project outputs are achieved according to the established workplan. The role requires strong communication skills to liaise with LGUs and stakeholders, as well as the ability to identify opportunities for enhancing plastic waste management practices. The Field Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on project progress, ensuring that activities align with UNDP's rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
Liaising with designated officials and offices of the LGUs to support the Project Manager in implementing project activities according to the workplan.
Communicating project plans and activities to LGUs, project partners, and beneficiaries.
Scoping existing LGU initiatives on plastic waste management and circular economy, mapping stakeholders, and understanding the local policy economy.
Identifying opportunities to increase plastic waste collection, diversion, and recycling, including consultations with LGUs on appropriate equipment and technology.
Assessing capacity building needs and organizing relevant training and workshops in a consultative manner.
Supporting baseline studies, progress assessments, and project evaluations in collaboration with the Project Manager and UNDP technical focal persons.
Preparing quarterly and annual monitoring reports on LGU progress and providing inputs for project reports to donors.
Keeping the Project Team informed about emerging issues related to LGU and stakeholder relationships.
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess secondary education as a minimum requirement. A university degree in Project Management, Business Development, Public Administration, Economics, Social Science, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of project management principles and experience working with local government units and development agencies in environmental management and local development planning.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least secondary education. A university degree in relevant fields such as Project Management, Business Development, Public Administration, Economics, Social Science, or Environmental Science will be considered an advantage, although it is not a strict requirement.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of professional experience if they hold a high school diploma, or four years of experience if they possess a bachelor's degree. Experience should preferably include working with local government units and development agencies in areas such as environmental management, project coordination, and public administration. Demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication is essential.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Filipino is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
