Job Overview: The National Consultant: Programme Support (fact-finding and investigation) position is designed to provide specialized support to UNDP in Bangladesh. The consultant will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations and fact-finding missions as part of the program support. The consultant will work closely with UNDP teams to ensure that the findings from investigations are integrated into program planning and implementation. The position is expected to last for 80 working days over a period of 5 months, during which the consultant will engage in various activities aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of UNDP's programs in Bangladesh. The consultant will also be expected to provide recommendations based on their findings to improve program outcomes and ensure accountability.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting comprehensive fact-finding missions to gather relevant data and information related to specific programs.
Analyzing collected data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for program improvement.
Collaborating with UNDP staff and stakeholders to ensure that investigations are aligned with organizational goals.
Preparing detailed reports on findings, including actionable recommendations for program enhancement.
Participating in meetings and workshops to present findings and discuss implications for program strategy.
Ensuring that all activities comply with UNDP's policies and procedures.
Providing ongoing support and advice to UNDP teams based on investigation outcomes.
Engaging with local communities and stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives that inform program development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in program support, investigation, or related fields. A proven track record of conducting fact-finding missions and producing high-quality reports is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills. Familiarity with UNDP's operational framework and development goals will be considered an asset. Candidates should also exhibit cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline will be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of development issues, particularly in the context of Bangladesh, and should be able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in program support, investigation, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development programs, is highly desirable. Proven experience in conducting research and analysis, as well as familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, will be beneficial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages will be considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
