Job Overview:
The Water Productivity Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the country implementation plan for the WaPOR project in Jordan, which aims to enhance land and water productivity through the use of remotely sensed data. The incumbent will work closely with the FAO Country Office in Jordan, the Project Chief Technical Adviser, and the Land and Water Officer. The role involves regular updates to the country engagement plan, contributing to annual project meetings and reports, and providing support for field activities. The coordinator will ensure effective training of surveyors for water productivity surveys and prepare various reports and training materials. This position requires a strong technical focus on water management and collaboration with national and international partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Technical expertise: The incumbent will contribute to the implementation of the project by providing technical inputs for land and water productivity assessments, conducting capacity needs assessments, developing training programs, and organizing workshops. They will also review the work of consultants and service providers. 2) Coordination: The coordinator will ensure technical coordination with other project countries and headquarters, coordinate national and project-level meetings, adapt methodologies, and liaise with relevant institutions for information sharing. 3) Project management: The incumbent will manage the timely implementation of the project, develop country implementation plans, communicate with government counterparts and stakeholders, manage the recruitment of consultants, ensure gender-sensitive project implementation, and prepare project reviews and reports. They will also monitor project expenditures and ensure logistical arrangements for missions and workshops.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in water management in agriculture, agronomy, natural resources management, or a related field. They should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in irrigation projects. Proficiency in English and Arabic is required, and candidates must be nationals of Jordan. Core competencies include results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, knowledge sharing, strategic thinking, and partnering.

Educational Background:
A university degree in water management in agriculture, agronomy, natural resources management, or a related subject is mandatory. An advanced degree in these fields is preferred and will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in irrigation projects. Experience in field positions and working in multiple locations or areas of work is essential. The extent and relevance of experience in water management in agriculture, irrigation, and water productivity will be assessed.

Languages:
Proficient working knowledge (level C) of both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
