Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management and Capacity Development Specialist will be responsible for overseeing knowledge management and capacity development activities within the GEF-8 Indo-Malaya Critical Forest Biomes Integrated Programme. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, technical advisors, and team members, to ensure effective implementation of capacity development plans and knowledge management strategies. The specialist will conduct capacity needs assessments, develop training modules, and evaluate the impact of capacity development activities. Additionally, the role requires the design and management of the Project’s Integrated Knowledge and Learning Hub, ensuring that knowledge is effectively captured, documented, and shared among stakeholders. The position is critical for promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the project and ensuring that lessons learned are disseminated widely to enhance project outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will carry out a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting capacity needs assessments and developing capacity development plans; implementing and evaluating the impacts of capacity development activities; coordinating the development and updating of training modules; reviewing and improving training materials; supporting the development of knowledge products; contributing to annual project reporting and planning; overseeing knowledge management policies and systems; developing and managing the project knowledge management strategy; capturing and documenting knowledge from the project; developing best practice notes and videos; sharing experiences and lessons learned with stakeholders; promoting a culture of lesson learning; contributing to annual reports and work plans; and performing other relevant technical assignments as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in fields such as education, social anthropology, economics, sustainable development, or knowledge management. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in knowledge management, institutional capacity development, training, or curriculum development is required. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of English and demonstrate core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field is essential for this position. The degree should be from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO, ensuring that the educational background aligns with the requirements of the role and the mission of the FAO.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in areas such as knowledge management, institutional capacity development, training, and curriculum development. Experience in primary forest management, inclusive conservation, and sustainable management of primary forest landscapes is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Southeast Asian context and experience working with government counterparts and stakeholders in the region will be considered an asset.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage, enhancing communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
