Job Overview:
The National Professional Officer (Finance) position is crucial for the effective and efficient provision of administrative support in the area of finance within the FAO Shared Services Centre located in Budapest, Hungary. This role involves coordinating and supervising an operational team focused on banking, accounts payable, and asset management, ensuring that all activities are executed within established service level agreements (SLAs). The officer will be responsible for creating and maintaining Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and will act as a liaison between internal and external partners, including banks and auditors. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring team performance, analyzing financial records, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The officer will also support various projects assigned by SSC Management and the Finance Officer, ensuring that progress is reported effectively to management. This role is integral to enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction while driving down costs through process standardization and automation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Professional Officer (Finance) include:
  • Coordinating and supervising the activities of an operational team in banking, accounts payable, assets, and bank reconciliation.
  • Ensuring the delivery of results within established SLAs and providing effective responses to clients.
  • Creating and maintaining Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) related to banking and financial processes.
  • Exchanging information with internal and external partners, including banks and auditors.
  • Monitoring team performance and reviewing reports.
  • Preparing, analyzing, and evaluating financial records to provide inputs for operational improvements.
  • Supporting projects assigned by SSC Management and monitoring progress.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and gathering requirements for enhancements.
  • Participating in the development of training materials and promoting best practices. 1
  • Performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Be a national of Hungary.
  • Hold an advanced university degree in a field related to business or public administration.
  • Have at least one year of relevant experience in office management, administration, accounting, audit, budget, or finance.
  • Possess a working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and Hungarian. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a field related to business or public administration. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of financial management and administrative processes within the FAO.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in areas such as office management, administration, accounting, audit, budget, or finance. Candidates with experience in shared services or business support centers will be viewed favorably, as this experience is highly desirable for the role.

Languages:
Candidates must have a working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and Hungarian.
