Job Overview:
The Digital Communication Consultant will play a pivotal role in advancing UNESCO's initiatives in the Natural Sciences sector, particularly through the UNESCO Green Citizens initiative. This position requires the consultant to develop and execute a comprehensive digital communication strategy aimed at enhancing visibility and engagement with youth and local communities. The consultant will be responsible for creating compelling content for various digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and websites, ensuring that the messaging aligns with UNESCO's core values and sustainability goals. The role also involves collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to promote biodiversity and sustainability initiatives effectively. The consultant will track and analyze the performance of digital campaigns to ensure they meet the desired objectives and resonate with diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a digital communication strategy for the UNESCO Green Citizens initiative, focusing on increasing visibility and engagement with youth and local communities.
  • Create and manage content for social media platforms in both French and English, ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Draft key messages for the UNESCO Green Citizens website, highlighting project owners, influencers, and core principles.
  • Facilitate community engagement through WhatsApp and LinkedIn groups, connecting sustainability advocates worldwide.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to produce strategic visuals, infographics, and videos.
  • Track and analyze the performance of digital actions, ensuring alignment with UNESCO's goals.
  • Produce and manage digital content for science-related initiatives, focusing on biodiversity, climate change, and sustainability.
  • Develop engaging articles, blog posts, and infographics for the UNESCO Green Citizens website.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in communication, digital media, marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in digital communication and content creation, with a minimum of 2 years in an international organization.
  • Strong proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media and web.
  • Excellent writing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with digital campaigns targeting youth and local communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Familiarity with the UN system and its communication guidelines is a plus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in communication, digital media, digital marketing, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to develop effective digital communication strategies and content.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in digital communication and content creation. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience working in an international organization, which will provide them with the understanding of global communication practices and the ability to navigate multicultural environments effectively.

Languages:
Candidates must have excellent knowledge of English or French, with very good knowledge of the other language. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory. This multilingual capability is crucial for engaging with diverse audiences and stakeholders across different regions.
