Job Overview: The consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting the UNESCO Green Citizens initiative, which focuses on enhancing community engagement and promoting sustainability through citizen science projects. The consultant will work closely with project owners to ensure their projects are effectively integrated into the UNESCO platform, providing them with essential materials such as Paperforms and communication toolkits. The consultant will also collaborate with the digital communication consultant to enhance community engagement through dedicated communication channels like WhatsApp and LinkedIn groups. Additionally, the consultant will participate in the development of Encounters events, which are virtual gatherings aimed at connecting local project leaders, scientists, and youth to share experiences and foster collaboration. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying new projects, particularly in underrepresented regions, and ensuring alignment with UNESCO's sustainability goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: informing project owners of their selection and providing necessary integration materials; identifying existing citizen science projects to enhance their visibility; collaborating with the digital communication consultant to foster community engagement; developing and implementing Green Matching events to connect project owners with students; managing volunteer forms and ensuring follow-up; participating in the editorial committee for the newsletter; identifying relevant projects for events; maintaining and updating the project owner database; and leading an annual review of projects to assess progress and alignment with UNESCO's goals. The consultant will also be expected to verify all identified projects with the coordinator to ensure they meet predetermined criteria and to assist project owners in aligning their initiatives with UNESCO's sustainability objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in communication, project management, social entrepreneurship, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 4 years of professional experience in content creation, graphic design, video production, or similar roles within a sustainability or environmental context. Experience with social media platforms and the ability to create engaging multimedia content is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and possess strong visual communication skills, with a passion for design and storytelling.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in communication, project management, social entrepreneurship, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively engage with project owners and support sustainability initiatives.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as content creation, graphic design, video production, or similar roles, particularly in a sustainability or environmental context. This experience should include a strong familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to create engaging posts and multimedia content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English or French is mandatory, with very good knowledge of the other language. Proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader audience and collaborate on international projects.
