The intern will facilitate the organization of internal and external events, ensuring that all logistical aspects are managed efficiently. Additionally, the intern will support planning and budgeting processes, contributing to the development of annual work plans and mid-year reviews. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's main responsibilities will include:
Supporting analysis and horizon scanning by synthesizing national and sectoral plans, policies, and strategies, and identifying stakeholders and partners.
Preparing presentations, short briefs, statistics, and data visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
Providing administrative support to the Adolescent team, including recruitment and placement, procurement/contracting, and general office support.
Facilitating the preparation of internal and external events, such as public launches and advocacy events, by preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and distributing meeting materials.
Arranging logistics for meetings, including room reservations, audio-visual equipment, and refreshments.
Supporting planning and budgeting processes, including the development of annual work plans and mid-year reviews.
Working under the guidance and supervision of the Adolescent Development Manager, adhering to UNICEF's standards, norms, and procedures.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in a degree program at an undergraduate or graduate level, or be a recent graduate in fields such as political sciences, social sciences, anthropology, international relations, or social communication. Candidates should demonstrate excellent academic performance through recent university or institution records, and additional consideration will be given to any relevant professional experience. Fluency in English and Italian is required, along with proficiency in MS Office applications. Candidates must also have no immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office and must disclose any other relatives in the line of authority to avoid conflicts of interest.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a degree program in relevant fields such as political sciences, social sciences, anthropology, international relations, or social communication. Academic performance will be assessed through recent records from the university or institution, and additional consideration will be given to candidates with past professional experience in related areas.
Experience: While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in fields related to child protection, social inclusion, or humanitarian work will be considered an asset. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to UNICEF's mission, making it suitable for both students and recent graduates.
Languages: Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage, but it is not required for the internship.
Additional Notes: The internship is part-time, with the intern expected to work 50% of the time, primarily from home, with some travel to Rome, Italy, as required. The internship will last from May 15, 2025, to December 31, 2025, and cannot exceed twenty-six weeks on a full-time basis. The intern will receive a monthly stipend of USD 1,700, prorated based on actual hours worked. UNICEF does not provide medical insurance for interns, and those who are not EU citizens must demonstrate proof of medical and accident insurance in Italy prior to the internship. Interns are responsible for obtaining the necessary visa for Italy, although UNICEF can issue a letter to support the visa application. It is important to note that the internship is not intended to lead to further employment with UNICEF, and there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
