Job Overview:
The Radiologic Technologist position involves working under the direct supervision of the Migration Health physician and receiving technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing screening X-rays of refugees and immigrants as part of the IOM Health Assessment Programme. This role requires taking high-quality chest X-ray images in accordance with international radiographic standards and the technical instructions of resettlement countries. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing examination rooms and equipment, ensuring proper identification checks, and maintaining high standards of radiation safety and protection during X-ray procedures. The position emphasizes the importance of quality assurance in the Radiology Unit and requires the candidate to contribute to workflow optimization and the timely delivery of X-ray images and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Radiologic Technologist include: taking chest X-ray images as requested, explaining procedures to applicants, preparing equipment and examination rooms, performing ID checks, ensuring correct biodata entry, applying proper radiographic techniques, monitoring applicants during examinations, processing digital images, reviewing image quality, reporting urgent information to Radiologists, maintaining high-quality standards in the Radiology Unit, participating in radiation safety measures, conducting regular quality assurance checks on X-ray machines, coordinating with technical service providers for equipment maintenance, optimizing workflow in the Radiology Unit, preparing daily worklists, uploading digital images, and maintaining accurate records. The candidate will also be responsible for communicating with Radiologists regarding image readings and implementing infection control measures in the work environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited institution. A valid license to practice Radiography is required where applicable. The position requires knowledge and experience in radiographic techniques, procedures, safety, and quality management processes. Familiarity with digital imaging machines and radiology information systems is essential. Specialized training certificates in thoracic radiology, cardiothoracic imaging, teleradiology, artificial intelligence in medical imaging, quality assurance, and PACS training are advantageous. Proven experience in screening chest X-ray readings is also preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited academic institution. The institution must be recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates must also hold a valid license to practice Radiography if applicable in their country.

Experience:
The position requires three years of working experience in radiography for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree and five years for those with a Diploma. Experience should specifically include working with chest X-rays, knowledge of radiographic techniques, and familiarity with health assessment programs. Candidates should also have experience with digital imaging systems and quality management processes in radiology.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
