Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will work closely with the National Officer for Education for Health and Well-Being in the UNESCO Mozambique office. This role focuses on the implementation of two key programs: the Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3) regional programme and the Rapariga Biz initiative. The UNV will provide technical expertise on themes such as Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), sexual and reproductive health, gender inclusion, and school-related gender-based violence. The position requires effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of educational programs aimed at improving health and well-being outcomes for adolescents and young people in Mozambique. The UNV will also engage with national authorities and civil society to support these initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: supporting training programs for government officials and educators on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE); developing and disseminating educational materials; contributing to project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; ensuring timely reporting on project expenditures; planning qualitative studies on learners' and teachers' experiences with CSE; representing UNESCO in coordination forums; and engaging with national authorities and civil society organizations. The role requires a proactive approach to capacity building and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of education, health, and gender issues, particularly in the context of Mozambique. They should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences are essential. The role requires a commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UNESCO's mission.

Educational Background:
A degree in education, public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in areas related to health education, gender studies, or international development would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in education, health programming, or project management, preferably within an international or non-governmental organization. Experience working with government agencies and civil society organizations in Mozambique is highly desirable. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as training and capacity-building initiatives, is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Mozambique. Proficiency in English is also required, and knowledge of other local languages would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position is based in Maputo, Mozambique, and the contract duration is subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. The Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover living expenses, and health insurance is included for the volunteer and up to three dependents. Additional benefits include life and disability insurance, as well as a Well-Being Differential for non-family duty stations classified as hardship categories D or E.
