Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for Training of Trainers (ToT) is crucial in the context of IOM's efforts to enhance social cohesion and mitigate conflicts in Ukraine, particularly in the aftermath of the ongoing crisis. The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping IOM staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively with local communities (Hromadas) in identifying and addressing localized conflicts. This role requires a deep understanding of conflict dynamics, community engagement strategies, and the ability to adapt international best practices to the unique Ukrainian context. The consultant will also create a toolbox that includes a manual for conflict mitigation strategies tailored to the needs of Hromadas, ensuring that the training is both theoretical and practical, with a strong emphasis on community involvement and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Developing a five-day training program for IOM staff, focusing on conflict mitigation and prevention strategies relevant to the Ukrainian context.
Creating a comprehensive toolbox that includes a trainer's manual and practical resources for Hromadas, addressing conflict dynamics and resolution strategies.
Planning and conducting the ToT sessions for 20-30 IOM staff members, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
Facilitating practical sessions in selected Hromadas to apply learned strategies and develop conflict mitigation plans.
Providing ongoing support and guidance to trained trainers throughout the contract period, ensuring the successful implementation of conflict mitigation strategies in their respective communities.
Documenting the training process and outcomes, including the development of community conflict mitigation plans.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in conflict mitigation, prevention, or transformation, with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience if holding a school diploma, or seven years if holding a Master's degree in a related field. Experience in capacity building and training facilitation is essential, along with a proven track record of working in conflict-affected areas, particularly in Ukraine or Eastern Europe. The consultant should demonstrate excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical strategies for community engagement.
Educational Background: A school diploma with ten years of relevant experience is required, or a Master's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, accompanied by seven years of relevant professional experience. This educational background ensures that the consultant has a solid foundation in the principles and practices necessary for effective conflict mitigation and community engagement.
Experience: The position requires extensive experience in conflict mitigation and prevention, with a focus on capacity building and training facilitation. Candidates should have a background in developing action plans or strategies for local conflict mitigation, as well as experience working directly with communities to address localized conflicts. Familiarity with the specific challenges and dynamics of the Ukrainian context is highly desirable, as is experience in implementing training programs that yield measurable outcomes in community resilience and cohesion.
Languages: English is the primary working language for this consultancy, and proficiency in English will be evaluated during the selection process. While English is mandatory, knowledge of Ukrainian is also beneficial, as the training materials and manuals may need to be developed in both languages to ensure accessibility for local communities. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but the focus for this position will be on English and Ukrainian.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to be full-time and will involve travel to various Hromadas in Ukraine as part of the training and implementation process. The contract duration will be determined based on the completion of the outlined deliverables, with specific deadlines for each phase of the project. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and IOM will cover consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan.
