Job Overview: The Rations Assistant will play a crucial role in the Life Support Section of MONUSCO, specifically within the Rations Unit. This position involves assisting in the coordination of the rations supply chain, ensuring that food delivery procedures are adhered to and that the quality of food supplies meets the required standards. The Rations Assistant will support monitoring and analysis of contractual performance, assist in the implementation of internal controls for rations management, and verify compliance with rations policies. Duties and Responsibilities: The Rations Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: coordinating with relevant parties in the rations supply chain, monitoring contractual performance, implementing internal controls for rations management, assisting in invoice verification processes, managing food orders and deliveries, ensuring the quality and safety of Emergency Rations Packs, conducting inspections of rations packs, verifying compliance with rations policies in kitchens and dining facilities, contributing to extra regimental activities of the Rations Unit, interfacing with the Rations Invoicing/Requisitioning Assistant, coordinating contractor performance meetings, and performing other duties as required. This comprehensive set of responsibilities requires a strong understanding of logistics and food management, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A technical or vocational certificate in food safety (such as HACCP or ISO 22000) is desirable, along with relevant training in project/contract management, food technology, supply chain management, or logistics. The position requires a solid understanding of food management and logistics operations, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge in an organizational context.
