Job Overview: The Programme Assistant position is part of the Global Programme against Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime and the Financing of Terrorism (GPML) within the Cybercrime and Anti-Money Laundering Section of the Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch at UNODC. The incumbent will work closely with the AML/CFT adviser and the Chief of GPML, contributing to the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the capacity of member states to combat financial crimes. This role involves supporting training courses, conducting research on illicit financial flows, and assisting in the procurement of goods and services. The Programme Assistant will also provide administrative support for meetings and workshops, monitor expenditures, and contribute to the preparation of technical documents and reports. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the principles of volunteerism, with an emphasis on promoting community engagement and understanding of volunteerism.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the preparation, organization, implementation, and follow-up of GPML AML/CFT training courses and events.
Conducting research on topics related to illicit financial flows, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
Collating and analyzing information for reporting to donors and project partners.
Assisting with the procurement of goods and services, including reaching out to vendors and preparing comparative tables.
Providing secretarial and administrative support for GPML meetings and workshops.
Assisting with travel requests for participants and consultants.
Monitoring expenditures and ensuring proper utilization of funds.
Drafting technical documents, project proposals, and status reports.
Reviewing and processing mail and documents. 1
Engaging in activities that promote volunteerism and community involvement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. They should demonstrate professionalism and discretion in dealing with sensitive information and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and establish partnerships with various stakeholders is essential.
