Job Overview: The Project Communication Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Firearms Trafficking Section of UNODC. This position involves ensuring strategic and innovative media coverage of office and project-related activities, updating and implementing the programme’s advocacy and visibility strategy, and providing support for the planning and design of internal and external communication strategies. The assistant will develop various communication materials, including news events, brochures, fact sheets, and success stories, to inform the media and the general public. The role also includes preparing press releases, supporting media relations, and maintaining a photo library and communications database. The assistant will be expected to contribute to the overall visibility of the project and ensure timely dissemination of information through various platforms, including social media.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Communication Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Ensuring strategic and regular media coverage of office and project-related activities.
Updating and implementing the programme’s advocacy and visibility strategy and plan.
Supporting the planning and design of internal and external communication strategies.
Developing communication materials such as news events, brochures, fact sheets, and success stories.
Preparing press releases and updates in a timely manner.
Supporting media relations and producing information/communication materials.
Creating and editing content for dissemination through websites and social media platforms.
Providing inputs for annual, donor, and other reports as needed.
Producing photo/video documentation for project events. 1
Maintaining a photo library and communications database. 1
Regularly updating the partners contact list and media database. 1
Completing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to teamwork and respect for diversity. They should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective partnerships in a multicultural environment. A strong commitment to continuous learning and the ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently are essential. Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Additional Notes: This is an international UN Volunteer assignment based in Vienna, Austria. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a Monthly Living Allowance of USD 2703.41, an entry lump sum of USD 4000, and an exit allowance of USD 225 for each month served. Family allowances are available for dependents. Medical and life insurance is provided through Cigna Private Insurance. Leave entitlements include annual leave, certified sick leave, uncertified sick leave, learning leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave.
