Job Overview:
The Digital Communications Intern will work within the Chinese Language Unit of the Social Media Section, Campaigns and Country Operations Division of the Department of Global Communications. This role is crucial for supporting the UN's social media activities, which are integral to its communication strategy. The intern will engage in creating and managing content across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, Weibo, Tumblr, Flickr, and YouTube. The position requires a commitment to a full-time schedule for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of starting remotely until the intern secures a G4 Visa. The intern will be expected to research, compile, draft, and edit content for Chinese social media, monitor engagement metrics, and develop creative content that resonates with younger audiences in the Chinese-speaking world. This role not only involves content creation but also requires analytical skills to assess the performance of social media initiatives, ensuring that the UN's core priorities are effectively communicated.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: researching and compiling information for social media content; drafting and editing text, images, videos, and infographics; monitoring and analyzing social media statistics; creating engaging content for platforms like Weibo and Kuaishou; editing video content for social media; attending meetings and managing agendas; drafting meeting notes; and assisting with special projects as assigned. The intern will also be expected to develop content that promotes UN mandates and engages with the audience effectively, ensuring that the messaging aligns with the UN's goals.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, and creativity in problem-solving. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office and graphic design software, is required, along with strong analytical and writing skills in Chinese.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a degree in a field related to communications, international relations, or a similar discipline.
