The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries, working to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The organization is committed to achieving three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet needs for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to sexual and reproductive health services, and it calls for a collective effort to build forward better in the face of ongoing challenges.

Job Overview:
The Pharmacist will play a crucial role in managing the supply of pharmaceuticals to service providers in Palestine. This position involves close collaboration with the UNFPA SRH Analyst and the broader SRH team, as well as other UNFPA programs in the West Bank and Gaza. The pharmacist will be responsible for monitoring supply needs, ensuring the availability of medical equipment, drugs, and disposables necessary for sustaining sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. The role requires a proactive approach to forecasting and addressing potential shortages of SRH-related medicines and supplies, as well as liaising with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and effective distribution of resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Pharmacist will be responsible for obtaining and analyzing service data from partners to project and quantify the needs for various SRH-related medicines and supplies. This includes reviewing medication lists from UNFPA partners, filtering needs for SRH drugs, and liaising with the Ministry of Health to ensure proper management and distribution of supplies. The pharmacist will support service providers in forecasting their annual needs, anticipate shortages, and coordinate with the UNFPA Supply & Logistics Unit for procurement processes. Duties also include participating in tender processes, ensuring quality standards for storage and delivery, preparing requisitions and purchase orders, inspecting deliveries, and developing tools for monitoring drug usage. The pharmacist will also prepare presentations on supply status and assist in documentation and reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required. Experience working with UN agencies, international NGOs, or pharmaceutical companies is advantageous. Strong administrative and monitoring skills, along with the ability to travel throughout Palestine, are essential. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also required.

An advanced degree in Pharmacy is mandatory for this position. This educational background ensures that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to manage pharmaceuticals effectively and comply with health regulations in Palestine.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of pharmacy or related areas. Experience with UN agencies, international NGOs, or pharmaceutical companies is considered an asset, as it provides familiarity with the operational standards and practices in humanitarian and development contexts.

Languages:
Strong written and spoken proficiency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. This bilingual requirement is crucial for effective communication with local partners, stakeholders, and the UNFPA team.
