Job Overview: The Communications Assistant (Digital Designer) will play a crucial role in supporting the media team at ESCWA. This position is essential for ensuring the timely production and dissemination of media releases, news items, and social media content. The incumbent will work closely with the Secretary of the Commission and the Chief of External Relations and Outreach to facilitate effective communication strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to managing media outputs, assisting in the coverage of events, and maintaining a strong social media presence. The Communications Assistant will be responsible for creating engaging content in both English and Arabic, monitoring media coverage, and producing analytical reports to evaluate the impact of communications efforts. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for media and communications, who is eager to contribute to the mission of ESCWA and enhance its visibility in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Assistant will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: 1) Assisting in the coverage of in-house events and meetings by compiling summaries tailored for external audiences, gathering quotes from speakers, taking photographs, and supporting media monitoring efforts. 2) Collaborating with the social media team to maintain a schedule of upcoming events, preparing content in English and Arabic, researching visuals, and preparing analytics and progress reports. 3) Producing media closeout reports by monitoring local, regional, and international media outlets, collecting social mentions, and drafting analytical reports following specific events. 4) Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the ESCWA Communication Unit. The incumbent will be expected to deliver media outputs in a timely manner and manage social media accounts effectively, ensuring excellent support to the media team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in public information, including photography and social media management, is required. Experience in an international setting is desirable, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to navigate the complexities of communication within a diverse and multicultural environment. Candidates must submit a copy of their educational degree, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a related area.
