Job Overview: The Program Development and Quality Director at Action Against Hunger in Tanzania is a senior leadership role focused on developing impactful programs to combat child hunger and undernutrition. This position involves leading the development of the Country Strategy, spearheading design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, securing funding, and championing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices. The Director will collaborate with various teams to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy, develop annual plans, report on results, and oversee the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based programs that align with Action Against Hunger's 2021-2025 International Strategic Plan. The role emphasizes capacity building, coaching, and mentorship, ensuring adherence to global standards and fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Program Development and Quality Director include leading the development of the Tanzania Country Strategy Plan, ensuring alignment with Action Against Hunger's ISP3 goals and global SDG objectives. The Director will foster collaboration between program departments, oversee the identification of needs in combating hunger, develop innovative program concepts, and secure leadership buy-in for the Country Strategy Plan. Responsibilities also include establishing a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, leading the development of the hunger and undernutrition Situation Analysis, and ensuring effective delivery of high-quality programs. The Director will manage a high-performing program team, develop a resource mobilization strategy, and advocate for increased investment in child rights programming. Additionally, the Director will lead emergency response efforts and enhance program impact through advocacy and partnerships.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in Food Security & Livelihoods, Public Health, Nutrition, Development Studies, WASH Engineering, or a related field. They should have at least 10 years of relevant experience with an INGO, including senior management positions. Experience in Action Against Hunger's core technical sectors such as FSL, Nutrition and Health, WASH, or Agriculture is essential, along with experience managing complex development projects for major donors like USAID, BHA, GAC, and the European Commission.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Food Security & Livelihoods, Public Health, Nutrition, Development Studies, or WASH Engineering is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the programs and interventions that Action Against Hunger implements.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience, particularly in senior management roles within an INGO.
