Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the operations and administration of the regional innovation programme, particularly the Zonta Foundation funded Climate Innovation Project. This position involves providing comprehensive programme, administrative, and financial support to the programme and technical team, ensuring effective implementation of donor-funded projects. The Assistant will collaborate closely with the International Operations Manager and the Programme Coordination Unit to facilitate timely support for regional programmes and country offices. The role requires a proactive approach to assist in logistical arrangements for various events, budget preparation, and maintaining project documentation, thereby contributing to the overall success of UNFPA's initiatives in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: assisting the programme team in providing operational support to country offices; organizing logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for workshops and meetings; preparing and monitoring budgets for regional initiatives; reviewing and drafting correspondence; managing travel authorizations and arrangements; maintaining office filing systems; updating project files and reports; preparing requisition requests in Quantum and Quantum Plus; ensuring compliance with UNFPA rules and regulations; following up on financial and programme reports; participating in volunteerism activities; contributing to UNV publications; assisting with the UNV Buddy Programme; and performing any other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on teamwork and customer service. Proficiency in computer skills is essential, along with the ability to achieve results and demonstrate accountability and professionalism. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment, adapting to the needs of the programme and its stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in social sciences, public administration, or a related field. Candidates with additional certifications or training in project management or administration will be viewed favorably, as these qualifications enhance the ability to perform the duties of the Programme Assistant effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in programme support, administration, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development or humanitarian assistance, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives, as well as experience in managing donor-funded projects, will be advantageous for applicants.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNFPA. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, is considered a valuable asset and may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
