Job Overview: The Country Director (CD) will play a pivotal role in leading the Relief International-South Sudan Senior Management Team, fostering a cohesive and motivated environment among team members. The CD is responsible for strategic planning, design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation, and ensuring compliance with financial and operational standards. This position requires a strong focus on external relations, coordination with various stakeholders, and the ability to secure funding and identify new program opportunities. The CD will assess and address gaps in program performance, ensuring that all initiatives align with RI's mission and objectives while meeting the needs of beneficiaries. Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director will oversee a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including program planning and development, resource acquisition, program management, personnel management, safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, external representation, financial management, and compliance. Specific duties include leading the development of strategic plans, maintaining donor relationships, supervising project implementation, managing national and expatriate staff, ensuring safety and security protocols are followed, representing RI in external engagements, and overseeing financial operations to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. The CD will also be responsible for conducting assessments, managing emergency responses, and ensuring that all projects meet their objectives and are executed efficiently and effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience. A minimum of ten years of professional experience in lead management roles within emergency response programs in conflict settings is required, including at least five years in senior management positions. Familiarity with RI's operational framework and a proven track record of achieving results consistent with organizational values are essential. Strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Previous experience as a Country Director in South Sudan is advantageous, as is knowledge of donor regulations and collaboration with local governments and NGOs.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as international development, public administration, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree combined with significant relevant work experience may be considered. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in management principles, humanitarian response, and development practices, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to navigate complex operational environments.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of ten years of professional experience in lead management roles, specifically in implementing emergency response programs within conflict settings.
