The United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) for Asia-Pacific is a part of the United Nations system that focuses on sustainable development initiatives across the region. The DCO was established following the United Nations General Assembly's Resolution A/RES/72/279, which aimed to enhance the coordination of development efforts within the UN framework. The office operates under the collective ownership of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) and is dedicated to ensuring that sustainable development goals are met, particularly in eradicating poverty and promoting inclusive growth. The DCO is committed to leaving no one behind in its efforts and works collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve these objectives. The office is located in Bangkok, Thailand, and is part of a larger network of UN offices operating globally.

Job Overview:
The Human Resources Intern will be engaged in a full-time internship program lasting between two to six months, depending on the needs of the office and the intern's availability. The intern will report directly to the Human Resources Officer at the DCO. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in human resources management within the context of the United Nations, allowing interns to gain insights into the operations of a major international organization. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to various HR functions, including recruitment, training, and employee engagement initiatives, while also developing their professional skills in a supportive environment. The internship is unpaid, and interns are expected to work five days a week, totaling 35 hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for assisting with various human resources functions, which may include but are not limited to: supporting the recruitment process by reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates; assisting in the development and implementation of training programs for staff; conducting research on best practices in human resources management; helping to maintain employee records and databases; participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for improving HR processes; and performing any other related duties as assigned by the Human Resources Officer. The intern will also be expected to demonstrate a strong aptitude for technology, particularly in using tools like Power Automate to streamline HR processes.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: they must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or they must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required to apply for this internship, but candidates should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. Strong research skills, the ability to analyze information, and proficiency in technology are essential qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed or be currently enrolled in a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational background should ideally be in a field related to human resources, international relations, or a similar discipline that provides relevant knowledge and skills applicable to the internship.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for this internship position. However, candidates should demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge that can contribute to the work of the United Nations. This may include academic projects, volunteer work, or other experiences that showcase the candidate's ability to perform in a professional environment.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Thailand may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization before starting the internship. It is important for successful candidates to discuss their specific visa requirements with the organization prior to accepting the internship offer. The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, and applicants should be cautious of any requests for personal financial information.
