Job Overview:

The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member, contributing to various projects and research initiatives. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours. The intern will engage in research on critical themes such as sustainable urban mobility, climate change impacts on transport, and the advocacy of sustainable transport policies. This role provides an opportunity to develop skills in data analysis, research methodologies, and policy formulation while contributing to the UN's mission of promoting sustainable transport solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's daily responsibilities will vary based on their background and the specific office to which they are assigned. Key duties include conducting research on environmental and social dimensions of transport, supporting the editorial process for the Transport and Communications Bulletin, preparing case studies and background materials for meetings, and finalizing research outputs such as policy briefs and technical reports. The intern will also undertake literature reviews, identify research gaps, collect and analyze data, prepare reports with findings, and create presentations summarizing their work. Additionally, the intern may assist with administrative tasks and support the Division/Section in various projects and workshops.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level). Candidates should possess experience in quantitative data analysis, familiarity with transport modeling techniques, and proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or Matlab. A strong interest in data analysis and policymaking is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational background should ideally be in fields related to economics, transport studies, environmental science, or a related discipline that supports the functions of the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in quantitative data analysis and familiarity with transport modeling techniques. Experience working with programming languages such as R, Python, or Matlab is highly valued. Languages:
