Job Overview: The Capacity Development Specialist will play a crucial role in providing expert guidance and technical assistance in developing content for capacity development initiatives. This includes creating course content, expository texts, scripts for animated and testimonial videos, learning activities, and assessment questions tailored to the learning needs and desired outcomes identified by CIMMYT’s research programs. The specialist will ensure the implementation and co-design of capacity development solutions and interventions in collaboration with research programs and technical partners. Additionally, the role involves conducting research to address specific issues, managing the production and instructional design of e-learning and face-to-face courses, and facilitating organizational assessments. The specialist will also be responsible for collecting data, preparing reports on training events, and contributing to the documentation and systematization of capacity development processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide expert guidance and technical assistance in developing capacity development content, including course materials and assessment tools.
Collaborate with research programs to co-design and implement capacity development solutions.
Conduct research to identify and solve issues related to capacity development.
Manage the production, editing, and instructional design of e-learning and face-to-face courses.
Facilitate organizational assessments and develop strategies for institutional strengthening.
Collect data and prepare reports on training events and outcomes.
Document and systematize capacity development processes.
Collaborate with Human Resources to develop content and e-learning courses for induction programs.
Build engaging learning activities and course content that enhance retention and knowledge transfer. 1
Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Instructional design experience is an advantage.
Advanced level of English language proficiency (C1 as per CEFR).
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agriculture Education, or related fields. This educational background is essential to ensure a deep understanding of the agricultural sector and the specific challenges faced in capacity development within this domain.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in agriculture education, training, e-learning, or agriculture extension domains. Candidates should have a proven track record in training content development, program preparation, and implementation, as well as experience serving as a resource person in the agriculture sector.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, with an advanced level required (C1 as per CEFR). Candidates will be required to take an English test to demonstrate their proficiency. While English is the primary language, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
