Job Overview:
The Associate will play a crucial role in CHAI’s work in malaria Commodity Access, providing support to National Malaria Control Programs (NMCPs) across sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central America. The position involves identifying, designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to increase the treatment and cure rates of malaria patients in West and Central Africa, specifically in countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone. The Associate will collaborate closely with CHAI’s country teams and global malaria teams, requiring strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity. The role demands excellent organizational and project management skills, the ability to synthesize data, and the capability to conduct analyses and communicate findings effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will be responsible for providing technical, operational, and implementation support in various areas, including malaria case management in both private and public sectors. This includes developing expertise in diagnosis and treatment tools, conducting quarterly data review sessions, identifying opportunities to improve malaria diagnosis and treatment, and supporting the implementation of monitoring and evaluation plans. The Associate will also generate and synthesize evidence to inform policy decisions, support the implementation of new case management strategies, and provide guidance on antimalarial drug resistance. Additionally, the role involves improving community health interventions, coordinating with government and CHAI teams, and supporting project and grant management, including stakeholder relationship management and donor reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include fluent written and spoken French, advanced written and spoken English skills, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, economics, or a related field. Candidates should have relevant professional experience in a demanding, results-oriented environment, high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to work independently in remote settings. Strong written and oral communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail are also essential. Candidates should have 2-3 years of experience in a private sector environment or public sector advisory position, and a willingness to travel frequently is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, economics, or other relevant fields. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of health systems and the specific challenges faced in malaria control efforts.

Experience:
The position requires 2-3 years of experience in a demanding private sector environment, such as strategy consulting or health commodity market intelligence, or in a public sector advisory role. Experience in developing settings is also essential, as the Associate will be working in regions with varying levels of resources and infrastructure.

Languages:
