Job Overview: The NDC Partnership in Country Facilitator will act as the interface between the NDC Partnership and the government of Jordan, facilitating coordination among various stakeholders involved in climate action. The incumbent will be embedded within the Ministry of Environment, responsible for enhancing national coordination, resource mobilization, and monitoring the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). This role requires the incumbent to support the focal point of the Partnership in daily tasks and ensure effective communication and collaboration among partners. The position is home-based, requiring the incumbent to work from government offices in Jordan, utilizing their own laptop and software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination and Communication: Ensure effective communication regarding the NDC Partnership's engagement in Jordan, facilitating information exchange among local, national, and international stakeholders.
Development of NDC Implementation Plan: Collaborate with partners to support the development of the NDC Implementation Plan, aligning priorities and needs at various governance levels.
Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor and report on the progress of country engagement, preparing quarterly updates and evaluations of the NDC Partnership's impact.
Organizing Meetings: Facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues and assist the government in preparing for NDC-related events, showcasing progress and garnering support for implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in public or private sectors focusing on climate change, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of national climate change policies and frameworks is essential. Experience in facilitating NDC implementation and fostering networks with senior leaders is desirable. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office are required, along with familiarity with UNFCCC processes.
Educational Background: A master’s degree in public policy, development, climate change, natural resource management, environmental management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in climate change, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Experience with multilateral governance processes and knowledge of the country's climate policy context is crucial. Familiarity with NDC implementation is an asset, as is the ability to build networks across various sectors.
Languages: Proficiency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, ensuring effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a local position, and candidates must be nationals of Jordan or hold a valid residence permit.
