Job Overview:
The Strategic Coordination Expert will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Operations Management Team (OMT) workplan, which includes the Business Operations Strategy (BOS) and the Common Back Office (CBO). This position requires a strong focus on data collection, reporting, and strategic communications to ensure that the OMT operates efficiently and effectively. The consultant will be expected to foster a client-oriented and results-based approach within the OMT Secretariat, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and informed throughout the process. The role is pivotal in promoting collaboration among UN agencies and enhancing operational support for better program delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Strategic Coordination Expert include:
  • Providing coordination support for the OMT to implement BOS and CBO objectives, ensuring efficiency gains are realized.
  • Offering secretariat, substantive, and logistical support for consultative meetings related to Business Operations Strategies Policy and other relevant gatherings.
  • Collaborating with the UN Resident Coordinators Office in Thailand to guide the OMT Secretariat UN Volunteer.
  • Supporting the OMT co-chairs in implementing other Efficiency Agenda workstreams, including CBO and Common Premises.
  • Developing strategic communication and knowledge management products to raise awareness and secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Contributing to the preparation of talking points, presentations, and background notes related to OMT initiatives.
  • Ensuring inclusive participation of relevant stakeholders in OMT project activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with UN agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Mainstreaming the usability of new systems and processes within the OMT secretariat team. 1
  • Creating platforms to facilitate coordination, monitoring, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making. 1
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the OMT co-chairs.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Strategic Coordination Expert position include:
  • A Master's Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in Development, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of working experience in research, analysis, or providing technical advice to government or international development organizations.
  • Prior experience in preparing UN Business Operations Strategies is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with business operations reporting under the UN Development System reform is also desirable.
  • Experience in coordinating joint projects or inter-agency support involving UN Agencies or International NGOs is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or an equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field such as Development, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, or Management. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant working experience. This experience should ideally include roles in research, analysis, or providing technical advice to governmental or international development organizations. Candidates with prior experience in the UN system, particularly in relation to Business Operations Strategies, will be at an advantage. Experience in coordinating joint projects or inter-agency support is also highly desirable.

Languages:
