Job Overview: The Senior Associate - VBD position at WJCF is a critical role aimed at supporting the national program for the elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL). The incumbent will serve as the technical anchor for vector-borne diseases (VBDs) within the Technical Support Unit (TSU), leveraging their expertise in public health programming to enhance the effectiveness of the NCVBDC's initiatives. This role involves assessing and integrating new approaches and technologies to accelerate progress towards elimination goals. The Senior Associate will also be responsible for fostering institutional relationships with NCVBDC, enhancing program reach and impact, and ensuring that processes and guidelines are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. The position requires a proactive individual who can invigorate programming and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders, reporting directly to the Associate Director - VBD.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as the technical focal point for VL and LF, overseeing all aspects of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment management.
Support the assessment of VL and LF elimination efforts, including the preparation of dossiers, SOPs, and other technical documents.
Assist the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and NVBDCP in planning and implementing activities related to KA and LF in a mission-mode campaign, ensuring regular follow-ups and corrective actions.
Utilize critical thinking and management skills to diagnose real-time challenges in the field and contribute to solutions that ensure the achievement of LF and VL elimination goals.
Plan, manage, and execute a variety of activities that support NCVBDC and its partners in the elimination of LF and VL.
Apply epidemiological, community health, and clinical expertise to assist NCVBDC in conducting in-depth analyses and providing background information for disease-specific Technical Committees.
Provide insights for the development and approval of State Project Implementation Plans.
Strengthen partnerships with institutional stakeholders, including medical colleges and research institutes, to enhance collaboration for disease control and elimination. 1
Foster engagement and coordination across stakeholders for a multi-faceted response to VBDs. 1
Collaborate with CHAI global teams to identify and implement best practices and innovative technologies. 1
Support the development of research proposals and documentation of best practices for national and international publications. 1
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the TSU lead and Director.
Required Qualifications:
A medical degree with a master's qualification in a related field such as public health, disease epidemiology, or management.
In-depth knowledge of vector-borne diseases is desirable, with at least 6-8 years of professional experience in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and management within the public health sector.
Demonstrated experience in supporting health programs at both the state and national levels, particularly with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and relevant state departments.
Strong knowledge and networks within the public health ecosystem, including development partners, civil society, and advocacy groups.
Proven ability to work effectively in challenging multi-stakeholder environments and build relationships with diverse stakeholders to achieve results.
An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives.
Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to handle ambiguity and solve problems in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Willingness to travel as needed, including to remote locations, often at short notice.
