Job Overview: The Security Associate position at UNFPA involves providing effective support to the Country Office security operations under the supervision of the Security Analyst. The role includes maintaining security team calendars, organizing security training, managing the UNFPA warden tree system, and ensuring the security documentation is up to date. The Security Associate will also be responsible for communication management, security incident reporting, and maintaining a comprehensive database of security incidents. This position is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of UNFPA personnel and operations, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has heightened the need for effective security measures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the Security Team calendars and organize schedules for security training and meetings.
Compile reports and attendance sheets related to training activities.
Prepare, record, and distribute minutes of security meetings and follow up on action points.
Ensure the UNFPA warden tree system is up to date and facilitate daily check-in procedures for personnel.
Draft and maintain security documentation, ensuring all information for UN Country/Area Security Plans is current.
Act as a Travel Arranger for official business trips of the Security Unit personnel.
Monitor the current security situation and disseminate warning messages to staff when required.
Maintain a comprehensive database of security incidents and assist in preparing incident reports.
Collaborate with field hubs to gather information related to security incidents and maintain a record of incident response activities. 1
Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning are essential. The role requires flexibility and effective communication skills to manage information and coordinate security-related matters efficiently.
Educational Background: A minimum of a secondary education is required, with a preference for candidates holding a degree in a relevant field such as security management, international relations, or a related discipline. Additional training or certifications in security management or emergency response would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in security operations, administration, or a related field. Experience working in a humanitarian or international organization is highly desirable, particularly in a conflict or post-conflict setting. Familiarity with UN security policies and procedures would be an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract duration is specified in the vacancy with the possibility of extensions based on funding and performance. The position is full-time, and the volunteer will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2076 monthly, along with a one-time entry lump sum of USD 40
